WAHA Paints a House

Volunteering to help neighbors is all in a day's work for WAHA members.

The video below, "Heroes," produced and directed by David Valentine, documents the 75 volunteers who turned out on April 9 and 10, 2005, to paint the home of Ellsworth K. C. Walker, age 89, at 1750 S. Ardmore in the Harvard Heights section of West Adams.

Neighbors sanded, scraped, primed, and painted the two-story house. Benjamin Moore & Company donated all the paint, thanks to Shilpark Paint Co. Shilpark itself provided all the other painting supplies. McBride & Co. donated the chemical stripping products. Rejuvenation Hardware added a porch light, house numbers, and a period-style mailbox.

Food for the volunteer painters was donated by Noah\'s Bagels of Larchmont Village, Papa Cristo\'s Taverna, Pizza Hut, and Starbucks.
